What does an operations blueprint cost, and what do you get?
Henry Mitchell, founder of Parallax Process · Updated October 16, 2026
A Parallax blueprint of one department or one cross-department flow, such as new product development, starts at $7,500 and takes 21 days. A whole-company blueprint is scoped to the size of the company. Both are fixed prices, quoted before you commit. For that you get two blueprints, your actual state and your ideal state, plus the decisions hidden in the gaps and a ranked list of every symptom we find, its root cause and the system we'd suggest to fix it. The fee for one department or flow is credited in full against its install, and the blueprints are yours whether you install or not.
What an operations blueprint is
An operations blueprint puts on paper how work moves through a company: which meetings happen, who makes which decisions, and which information nobody collects. Most of the processes that matter in a growing brand have never been written down, so nobody has been able to look at them and improve them.
You may see similar work sold as an operations assessment or a process map. The scope varies a lot between providers, so compare what you receive at the end as well as the price.
The three parts
A Parallax blueprint has three parts, drawn to your business from your team's interviews.
The Meeting Map shows where decisions happen: every recurring meeting, who takes part and what information reaches the room. It covers two timelines: the calendar cycle, and the event-triggered cycle that starts when a launch is approved or a date slips.
The Roles Org Chart is built on the Meeting Map. It shows where each decision is made and who makes it, across four layers: strategy, OKRs, projects and daily tasks.
The Dark Matter Scan looks for what nobody is collecting, such as missing information, choices nobody owns and assumptions that have quietly become policy. For each one we suggest a way to capture it.
With those comes the ranked list and one fixed Install quote by module. You see the full proposed Install price before committing beyond the Blueprint.

Choosing one department or one flow
Choose a department when the problem sits inside a team: its meetings, reporting and decision rights. Choose a flow when work crosses teams and repeatedly breaks at the handoff.
For example, a new product development flow might run from the written launch case through packaging approval and production preparation. The Blueprint interviews the people involved across those boundaries; it is not a promise to map every process in every department in 21 days.
We agree the boundary before work starts. A whole-company Blueprint is scoped separately.
What the Install quote should make clear
Each quoted module identifies the operating control, the people and sources involved, and the acceptance check. For a packaging-approval handoff, an illustrative check would confirm that the owner is named, the current approval evidence is linked, and an overdue decision is brought into the existing operating review.
The Install runs for 90 days against the agreed scope. Every operating control in the quote is installed and verified with your team, line by line, or we keep working at no additional charge until that check passes. The final Install payment is due when it passes.
Buying the Blueprint does not commit you to the Install or the Brain. Keep the files and stop with nothing more owed, or choose the modules you want installed. See the completion guarantee and Install terms.
Time from your team
Everyone involved in the department or flow sits one interview of up to an hour, and the founder gets an hour of their own. We then go back for another hour or two with the three or four people who hold the most operating detail, often the chief of staff or the executive assistant. We'll sign your NDA before the first interview.
After the blueprint
You can stop at the blueprint and owe nothing more. It ends with one fixed quote for everything it recommends, priced module by module, and you choose which modules to install. If you go on, the install runs 90 days, with a start date set around your launches and retailer resets, and the Blueprint for that department or flow is credited in full against it. The brain, which records your key decisions and reviews them each month, runs quarter to quarter. You can stop it at the end of any quarter.
Comparing it with other options
A fractional COO or a consulting firm will often run a discovery phase at the start of a longer engagement. That works well when you already know you want them running operations afterward. A standalone blueprint suits a founder who wants to see the company on paper first and decide what to do with it later.
Three questions are worth asking any provider. Is the price fixed? Do you keep the documents if you stop? Does everyone get interviewed, or only the leadership team?
Where the method comes from
The blueprint is step one of the Parallax Process, and the process comes out of our work at Manukora, a premium DTC honey brand. Quarterly goals delivered by the team there rose from 5 of 13 to 13 of 16, which is 81%. Manukora has since grown to 114 people on one operating system, and six months after handoff every system was still running.
The first call is 30 minutes. We'll ask how work moves through your company and where it stalls, and you'll leave with our read on whether a blueprint would find enough to be worth doing.
